Hedge Fund Manager Ackman Takes New Stakes in Nike and Brookfield
Nike Shares Rise After Pershing Square Disclosure
Shares of Nike Inc. (NKE) rose about 5% in after-hours trading on Monday after Pershing Square Capital Management LP, a hedge fund managed by billionaire investor William Ackman, disclosed a new stake in the company.
A New Stake in Nike
According to a regulatory filing, Pershing Square Capital Management now owns approximately 3 million shares of Nike, representing a new stake in the sportswear giant.
Increased Investment in Brookfield
In addition to the new Nike stake, the filing also revealed that Pershing Square Capital Management increased its stake in Brookfield Asset Management Inc. (BAM) by approximately 68 million shares.
Ackman is known for his activist investing approach, often taking large stakes in companies and advocating for changes in their operations or management.
The latest filings suggest that Ackman sees potential for growth and value in both Nike and Brookfield, two companies that have been performing well in recent months.
