GoFundMe page raises over £56,000 for family of missing teenager
Search teams found a body near the last known location of Jay Slater's mobile phone
The body found on the Spanish island of Tenerife on Monday has officially been confirmed as that of missing British teenager Jay Slater. The 19-year-old from Rotherham had been missing since June 17, and an extensive search operation was launched to find him.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise money for Jay's family, and has so far raised over £56,000. The page was set up by Lucy Mae, a friend of Jay's, who said: "Jay was a loving son, brother, and grandson. He was always smiling and had a heart of gold. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him."
The GoFundMe page has received a flurry of individual donations in the past few hours, and GoFundMe will now work with Jay Slater's family to discuss next steps on a fundraiser with more than £56,000 worth of donations.
