Water Outages and Main Breaks in Calgary
Calgarians Asked to Reduce Water Use
The City of Calgary is asking residents to reduce their water use both indoors and outdoors over the next 24 hours due to a major water main break in the northwest part of the city. The break affects the most critical south feeder main, which supplies water to 12 million Calgarians in addition to the nearby municipalities of Cochrane, Airdrie, and Chestermere.
Boil Water Advisory Issued for Bowness
In addition to the water main break, a boil water advisory has been issued for the community of Bowness. Residents in Bowness are advised to boil all water for at least one minute before drinking, brushing their teeth, or washing dishes. The boil water advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
City Working to Restore Service
City crews are working to repair the water main break and restore service as quickly as possible. However, residents should be prepared for the possibility of extended outages.
The City is asking residents to be patient and to conserve water as much as possible during this time.
